Importance of the Festival/Event

Karthika Maasam is very auspicious month for performing Satyanarayana vratam. This vratam is performed to seek health, wealth, success in education, job & business. It is performed to gain victory, courage, prosperity and before any auspicious beginning.

ICCT introduced JWALA THORANOTSAVAM beginning 2020. The origin of Jwala Thoranotsavam is associated with the story of Ksheera Sagara Madhanam (churning of the ocean). As per Shiva Puranam, at the time of ksheerasagara madhanam, when Lord Shiva was about to drink the Halahalam, Parvati Devi vowed to walk underneath the Jwalathoranam along with Lord Shiva. Who ever repents for the past sins and pledges to refrain from sinful acts & dedicates his/her life to service of the society and carries the utsava vigrahas of Lord Shiva on the premises of an authentic Shiva temple is blessed by the Divine couple and spared from entering the burning gates of Hell. This has been sourced from Shiva Puranam. During this event, sponsors (couples or individuals) will take oath and carry the Utsava vigrahas of Shiva and Parvathi in a vahanam on their shoulders.
